Today I Am Grateful

Grateful for my shining son and how he pressures me so in every direction better and worse. Grateful I cannot remember what I was stressing about at the table across from him when he smiling-glory said to me ENJOY THE MOMENT! Grateful six year olds have a way of calling you out. Grateful he hung out the window onto the balcony today hollering over the drumbeat he was blaring on his keyboard, “heyyyy! i love you ma suga baybayyy!” Grateful to receive this repetitively while I weeded the garden as though it was a special part of his DJ performance. Grateful to be his primary audience and number one among inumerable adoring fans. Grateful they weren’t all here as I love gardening naked but not quite ready for everyone to see me that way. Grateful for all the cedar trees and berry bushes that make our big yard so cozy safe and intimate. Grateful my neighbour just warned me he spotted “the biggest black bear I’ve ever seen musta been 500 pounds thought it was a grizzly” beside my driveway… and still i feel safe. Grateful we started reading the Secret Garden and we are at the part where Mary gets a skipping rope. Grateful we have one and went out to give it a try. Grateful the teacher versions of my parents came out and my kid cried and I took some time to recoup on the other side of some tall plants and I got to listen to him coach himself kindly, overjoyed to see me return even…
